Why so many shower head factories sit in Zhejiang

Zhejiang has several long-standing manufacturing bases for plumbing and bathroom hardware. In the Ningbo area, Cixi and Yuyao are known for plastic parts, small household products and bathroom accessories. Taizhou is known for plastics and mold making. Wenzhou is known for valves, fittings and plumbing hardware. Read that as a map of the province rather than a ranking: factories inside one cluster differ from each other far more than the clusters differ.

What a cluster gives a buyer is a short supply chain. Mold makers, finishing shops, packaging printers and component suppliers sit within a short drive, and one of the world's largest container ports is on the same coast. That is the environment ZHONGHE has worked in since 2001.

The factory is at No.3 Jiangxi Road, Cangtian, Changhe Town, Cixi, Ningbo, Zhejiang 315318. It molds its own ABS bodies and PC transparent parts on 15 injection molding machines, assembles on 4 lines, and water-tests every finished unit for about 10 to 15 seconds before packing. The catalog holds 96 model codes: filter, multifunctional, baby, pet, hair and LED hand showers, hoses, holders, replacement cartridges and faucet accessories.

The molds behind those model codes belong to the factory, so an OEM order can reuse a live tool with the buyer's colors, filter media, logo and packaging instead of paying for new tooling. ODM projects are engineered in-house, with about 15 days of appearance design, 15 days of structure design, 60 days of mold making and 30 days of production as working guides.

What sourcing inside the province changes for a buyer

Three practical things. First, components and finishing are close, which is what keeps production on existing molds to about 30 days as a guide. Second, buyers who travel can usually see several suppliers in one trip, because Cixi, Yuyao and central Ningbo are within an easy drive of each other; confirm exact travel times when a visit is planned. Third, samples and small pilot runs move quickly, because the same plant that molds the parts also assembles and tests them.

Logistics through Ningbo-Zhoushan

Ningbo-Zhoushan is one of the world's largest container ports and normally serves shipments from the area. Sea transit times vary by lane, season and carrier, so treat any figure in a quotation as an estimate and confirm the schedule with your forwarder. The port of loading and the Incoterms belong in writing on the quotation.
